According to our investigations, of the 100 companies listed by the stamps on water sachets, only about ten operate legally. All the others are believed to be operating without authorization. They work clandestinely, often in the backyards of private homes. Some, according to information received, operate using boreholes installed in their yards. “There’s a lot of fake mineral water. People draw water from fountains. It’s tap water that’s put in the sachets to sell. All you need is a small machine to seal the sachets, and that’s it. There’s no oversight whatsoever.”
